It is very important to protect solar access in residential areas
for comfortable human life. The factors of protecting solar access
are determined by the conditions of lot, the layout pattern of
building and the relation to surrounding buildings. The current
solar access codes have many problems, which are eastablished to
protect solar access, considering only with the distance at the
southern building.
The purpose of this paper is to describe "shadow chart" based on
the lattitude of site, the season of reason, which is available
to evaluate solar access in in consideration of surrounding
buildings in Korean weather. Also, this study aims at offering
the basic data for solar access codes in apparment houses.
