The Color in Architecture is one of the main problems in
the Modern Movement. In order to find significant argument
in this problem, I investigated the "Architectural
Polychromy" of Le Corbusier, produced during 1920's.
Particularly, the villa Savoye was focused for this study.
The basic hypothese for study is that Le Corbusier wanted
to confirm the existence of Edequated color system and
develop it in his architectural content. A formal structure
of colored surfaces needs to be identified considering
the particularity of architectural representation that
belongs to the Villa Savoye. This is because the analysis
of color cannot be accomplished with the iconographical
investigation seperated from special function of this building.
I treated the architectural polychromy as "theoretical object"
trying to clarify the internal law of production. The exact
description is necessary in order to determine "invariables"
and singularities. This is essentially structural approach.
In conclusion, through the work of architectural polychromy,
Le Corbusier presented a new notion about the vision.
The importance is to have the mental experience of perception
that can establish the synthetical relationship between
phenomenological appearance and constructive reality. It
is with this synthesis of the subject and the object that
the colored surfaces of vill a Savoye presented themselves
as the objectivity of the architectural polychromy.
"To see" is now "to feel", where Le Corbusier pose a
philosophical question of the "Truth" in his architectural work.
