The haunched frames in reinforced concrete structures have
been widely used because of their structural efficiencies.
However, some difficulties are encountered in structural
analysis of the haunched frames because of variable sections
of the beams and lack of proper structural analysis methods
for them. This research is associated with the derivation of
approximate analysis method which is convenient to apply to
haunched frame structures. The results analized by this method
show very close agreements with the values analized by
stiffness matrix method of SAP-81 computer program.
The approximate method derived in this research could be used
for haunched frames in preliminary structural design.
