This paper is to study experimentally the pure shear strength of
composite beams with web openings. One steel beam and two
composite beams with web opening were tested to be failed by
pure shear at the center of the opening and the results were
compared with another. The test results are that the concrete
slab in composite beams contributes to the shear strength of
the beams at the web openings and that the shear strength of beam
decreases in the case of upper eccentricity of the opening.
