This paper is to study the effects of variables which influence
the behavior of reinforced concrete columns under uniaxial
compression. The main variables in this study are yield strength
of longitudinal steel, ratio of area longitudinal steel to the
area of cross section, distribution of longitudinal steel,
concrete cover. To investigate the effects of these variables,
nine reinforced concrete and two plain concrete specimens were
tested.
In the theoretical analysis, the calculation of gain in cocnrete
strength due to steel reinforcement was proposed and the ultimate
strength was determind. And these theoretical results were compared
with experimental results.
