The purpose of this is to study methods of 2nd Order analysis
of frames and to study more reasonable method of column design.
2nd Order effect consist of p.d effect and c.s effect, or column
instability.
Both effect increase in proportion to axial force, and must be
considered when axial force become great.
Many approximate methods have been developed and column moment
of inertia reduction method is proposed in this paper. One can
consider p.d effect accurately in shear building and it can be
approximately applied to general frame by using story stiffness
concept.
A plastic analysis is done by simplified program and its result
shows that when member stress exceeds elastic range, plastic
analysis is more important than 2nd order analysis.
