The North-South Korea summit by president KIM Dae-jung and Chairman KIM Jeong-il at last year sent a great shockwave over the world. The process of cooperation and reunification between them is expected as to end confiontations and open new era of reconciliation and peace in East Asia.
After the collapse of the Cold War, international communities gave attention to 'globalization of reconciliation' Even 'Truth and Reconciliation Committee' of South Africa demands offenders' truth confessions to victims for amnesty, but truth is not always a prerequisite of reconciliation. John Paul Lederach said that reconciliation promotes an encounter between the open expression of the painful past, on the one hand, and the search for the articulation of a long-tern, interdependent future, on the other hand.
President KIM appealed for reconciliation and integration to his country people after presidential election. His 'sunshine policy' toward North Korea was realized after food crisis of North and financial crisis of South Korea. His policy for national reconciliation do not intend to make zero-sum game but two winners. Win-Win policy may become a harbinger for an era of reconciliation in East Asia.
