This study evaluates the effect of colored glass on the interior luminous environments of an atrium. For the purpose, a 1/25-scale model of a
one-sided atrium is made and images are taken of the interior environments under a clear sky condition. Surveys are conducted on KyungHee
university students in the department of architecture engineering. The’ SPSS program’ is used to analyze the survey results. Frequency
analysis and correlation analysis are performed. The results indicate that clear glass is the preferred type of glass in any seasons. After clear
glass, green glass and blue glass are next in order of preference. The main variables that affect the interior environment are the slight changes
in the thermal senses of the seasons. These variables are described through correlation analysis as ‘bright’, ‘neat’, ‘warm’, ‘comfort’, ‘stable’,‘active’, ‘static’, ‘elegant’ and ‘cool’. Also, three factors are extracted and analyzed in terms of their effect of the interior environment.
