Confucianists attired themselves in Simui elaborately which, they believed, represented virtues enshrined in the Confucianism. <Okjo> and <Simui>, chapters in 《Yegie》, address sartorial matters of Simui, but the text lines, concise but abstruse even in its footnotes, render study on this clothes as many as the confucianists out there. Dasan, Jeong Yak-yong, a prominent Realist of Chosun Dynasty who put the finishing touch on the practical science, dealt with the codes of dress as part of dress of washing and shrouding a dead body in <Sangujung> chapter of his 《Sangryesajun》. He cited the ambiguity of footnotes in Jung Hyun's book as cause of controversy surrounding Simui theory. After studying and comparing predecessors' Simui thecries, he presented new theory as a tool of scholium and bibliographies. He gave rationality priority in his study of Simui theory and went on explaining the sartorial process of the dothes from the point of human frame, brushing aside numerical values and measuring units proposed by Jung Hyun which had accounted for the intricacies of the process up till then. In this study, I try to shed some light on Dasan's Simui theory's pragmatic aspect by some comparative study of his opinion expressed in <Sangujung> with Chu-tze and Han Baek-gyum's view, and eventually coming up with new draft for Simui. Further, I am determined to go the whole way and live up to the symbolism accoutered in the garment by having one made and wearing it in person.
