Korean 'Dang-cho' pattern had been imported from China. Until now, a cause of 'Dang-cho' designation is revealed on two elements - It was from China and it has exotic mood. But through this study, we could find other cause. In the early days, 'Dang-cho' pattern was called 'Man-cho' pattern in China. But especially Dang people had liked it and it had faded in Dang dynasty, so later ages called 'Dang-cho'. Shape of 'Dang-cho' pattern was simple in the first years, however with the passage of times, 'Dang-cho' pattern in
combination with other patterns - for example, Grape pattern, Lotus pattern, Pomegranate pattern and so on. 'Dang-cho' pattern means 'Enjoy longevity' and 'Posterity flourishing', it's symbolic meaning is almost same in Korea and China. But as compared with China, it's practical use has been various in Korea. Because the Chinese very like and venerate 'Dragon', so frequently use 'Vine Dragon (Transformed dragon like the vine)' pattern in substime for 'Dang-cho' pattern. Moreover, most of patterns had in named authenticated in the material of it in Korea, but the Chinese has given a pattern name authenticated in it's symbolic meaning frequently.
