This study is on the development of an improved detail of CFT square column-to-beam partially restrained composite connection and the evaluation of its hysteresis behavior under the cyclic loading. The connection was designed to prevent the brittle failure at the bottom of the connection due to the composite effect of concrete slab and steel beam and simplify its fabrication process. The suggested connection type is the welded type of bottom beam flange(S-2) and it is advanced to the welded type with RBS in the bottom flange of the beam(S-3). These two types are compared with the existing partially restrained composite connection of seat angle type with bolt(S-1). To evaluate their hysteresis behavior, three specimens were fabricated in the full-scale and tested under the cyclic loading. As the test results, the welded type(S-2) had about 85% of stiffness of steel beam, similarly to the seat angle type with bolt(S-3) and behaved as partially restrained connection. Although the specimens(S-2, S-3) of the supposed type and advanced type failed at the edge of weld zone of the welded bottom connection, it obtained the sufficient deformation ability through the anchor inside the steel tube. Also, the suggested connection is evaluated to exhibit the ductility because the inelastic rotation angle reached more than 0.03rad at the 80% capacity of the maximum moment capacity and the equal or more ductile behavior than the bolted seat angle connection.
