본 연구는 transaction 처리를 위한 분산 시스템에 근거하여 각 노드에 대한 transaction할당을 가정하고, 제약조건(constraint)를 적용시켜 processor의 할당문제와 processor 를 연결하는 communication line의 형(type) 및 network topology를 결정하는 문제를 다루게 된다. 여기에서 사용하는 제약 조건은 processor 와 line의 용량(capacity), processor의 slot number, topology의 connect 문제를 포함하며, 조건에 맞도록 설계된 topology 들은 적합한 비용과 적절한 processor utilization을 만족할 수 있도록 제한되었다.
