This paper traces, analyzes and summarizes the changes of Ha Jong Oh(하종오)'s poetic world. He entered into poetic school in 1975 and has been working up to now, and his poems seems to show diverse changes. But these changes, in fact, reflect the contemporary social changes, which can be understandable considering 30 years of his poetic career. However, it can be noticed that a consistent logic is found under these ostensible changes. I would like to call it as the quest for 'relationship'. In other words, While man-to-man relationships was focused upon in his poems of eighties when the writer was deeply involved in social issues, and this tendency continued in his poems of nineties, the issue of man-to-environment is newly centered in his poems of 2000s. Based upon this, I had a critical opinion about an understanding his poems as ecological ones, which is widely reviewed and understood nowadays. The point here, I would argue, is not an interpretation of ecology or environment but the will of the poet about a desirable relationship, When the issue of ecology or environment is detached and is emphasized, the sense of relationship will be devaluated, which he would like to evade intentionally. His recent poems emphasizes this tendency. Noticing this issue, we look forward to his future poetic career.
