Steel frames is composed of the beam-to-column joints. The joint behavior is substantially represented through the moment versus rotation curve. The most accurate knowledge of the joint behavior is obtained through experimental tests but sometimes used to approximate models (Elastic analysis, Rigid-plastic analysis and Elastic-plastic analysis). In this paper, the maximum flexural resistance of the joints is calculated by the component approach used in Eurocode 3(CEN, 2002). Also, in order to verify the reliability of the component approach for the maximum flexural resistance of the joints, analytical results are compared with experimental tests. The difference of the two results was about 11% in the FW joint detail and about 1% in the TSD joint detail. Comparison between analytical and experimental results allows to conclude that the component method is able to simulate, with a good level of accuracy for the maximum flexural resistance of steel joints.
