From the mid-nineteenth century, Korean have immigrated in Tumen riverside. Their communities have different characters in according with the time, intention, and birthplace of immigrants who inclined to keep the property and succession of their owns culture.
There are many causes about the formation of communities in Tumen riverside. Caused by Ch'ing Dynasty in 1885, one of the reasons is to approve Han Min Zhuan Ken Di Qu(legal land development right for Korean immigrants), and provide land development district for Korean immigrants in Bukan region in Tumen river from 1885.
In Tumen riverside, there are to be existed in 76 Ferry and Wade villages. By and large, most is distributed 17 communities on Nan Ping Zhen in He-Long city, 17 communities on San-he Zhen in Long-jing city, and 7 communities on Qing Xin Zhen in Hun-Chun city.
