Since the 1960s the growing economy have allowed population to concentrate on enlarging cities which facilitated the lack of houses in the cities. In order for have the solution to the problem, apartment housing were expected to be considered the efficiency of using its land. This study aimed to identify the characteristics and variations of the outer spaces which included public and private apartment houses located in Chang-won after it investigated the matters which was likely to have an effect on the component factors of the outer space of apartment houses. In the study, the drawings used for the construction of apartment houses were analyzed, and the data collected from the investigation on the spot were classified into each category. This is because since the late 1990s there were increased investment in private construction, the freedom of aboard travel, worker's increased rights and interests, increased women's right, in our society. The outer spaces of the apartment houses in Chang-won had various factors in the process of changes. In particular, while apartment houses had been developed by the regulations and policies dominated by the government, today they are developed by people's direct needs for them, which should be considered as reasonable and could have an effect on the establishment of the policy of housing in the future.
