There are various representations in design process. Kim, Chan-joong representates his work using the computer graphic tool, Form-Z. This study is to examine the character of Kim, Chan-joong's design method using Form-Z, so that I precede to consider representation through the Plato's concept, mimesis.
Plato's mimesis is to explain the relation between the original form and image. It translates representation today. Its best metaphor is 'three phases of imitation and manufacture'.
The difference between that metaphor and usual design process is the phase of drawing and model manufacture. Kim, Chan-joong makes Form-Z works instead of CAD drawings and mock-up model manufature. It makes works more perfect and in-depth work.
His Form-Z works are classified into functional drawings and depictive drawings. Functional drawings reduce the error between the first phase and the second phase, depictive drawings put across the building's image. But, The oder is the difference between his works and the drawings of third phase. His work is the image of the un-built building, the image of third phase if the image of the bulit buildings.
