This study intended to produce optimal acoustic design appropriate to the style, scale and use of Anyang gymnasium and ice links by analysis and evaluation of acoustic effect based on the present plan. As a result of the acoustic experiment, syllable articulation of the audience section in the variance method was somewhat improved than that of concentrated method, but when noise for the audience was considered when the audience section was fully occupied, it was not evaluated that it was satisfactory. For the concentration approach, the central section had higher syllable articulation, but it was remarkably lower in the audience section. For the variance method, the difference in syllable articulation between center and audience section was not much larger as much as the former approach, the syllable articulation of the audience section was still lower.
In sound pressure, there was no significant difference between the two approaches, but in syllable articulation, the variance method had the more equal distribution from the center to the audience section than the other. The variance method had less difference in syllable articulation between the center and the audience section compared to the concentration approach. And it was demonstrated that the syllable articulation was generally improving.
The gymnasium had generally equal distribution of syllable articulation, but it was downwardly equalized. So it was determined that more than 0.6 in the minimum of syllable articulation for the audience section should be guaranteed by considering the noise form the audience.
As for ice links, actual dispersion arrangement was possible, rather than the dispersion as defined in gymnasium, and superior syllable articulation was obtained without additional absorbing sound treatment. Therefore, by facing a matter of architectural structure squarely, reverberation time and syllable articulation should be improved through absorbing noise.
