The purpose of this study was designed to find out the reasonable equation for estimating the athletic man body fat. Thirty six healthy study male subject and twenty nine athletic man subject who are attending in T university participated in this study.
Anthropometric measurements involving the skinfold thickness of 7 body sites and the circumferences of the 7 body sites, weight were also taken to extract to equation which predicting body fat.
In this procedure, the stepwise multiple regression analysis (forward selection procedure for dependent variable % fat that was determined by hydrostatic method) was undertaken. The results obtained in this study are summarized as followed.
1. In the Body fat(%) criterion values of BIA, there is significant difference from body fat(%) of the body skinfold thickness and circumferences(p<.05) in untrained students. However the athletes are significant difference from body fat(%) of circumferences(p<.05).
2. In the Body fat(%) criterion values of BIA, there is significant difference from body fat(%) of the skinfold thickness(p<.05) two groups between untrained postudents and athletes the other side body fat(%) circumferences is not significant difference(p>.05) each groups.
3. The equation for prediction of relative body fat from stepwise multiple regression analysis are as follow Y = -16.001 + 0.337X₁ + 0.119X2(R2=.899).
(X₁ = abdominal circumferences, X2 = Subscapular thickness).
4. Anthropometric measurements which recorded the highest correlation with the BIA was abdominal circumferences(r=.937), Subscapular thickness(r-.861).
