To keep a good condition of textile it is needed to maintain constantly relative humidity(40~55%) and regular temperature(15~22℃). Furthermore, it is important that the textile is prevented from dust in air, strong sunlight and contaminated materials to avoid damage.
Of the various kinds of storage methods, horizontal storage method-flat storage with drawer- is used in Korea to keep textile and costume in a normal condition.
There are not too many museums furnished with complete storage area in korea. If possible, It will be needed to invest and concern for maintaining storage place that holds collection and keeps the remains cleanly for a long time as well.
Gwangju folk museum is favorably situated to keep costume neatly. However, it is required of much investment and study that develops storage method and device based on traits of costume.
