The purpose of this study is to present the design showing the unique korean values and characteristics to the world by researching, collecting and analysing the works adopting korean images.
The methodology of this study is to classify the korean images into a shape, a fabric, a colour and a pattern to analyse in total 100 works. For the literature review, the analysis on the references published between in 2000 and 2006, books for the pictured version of works and collections and internet materials are adopted.
The aim of this study is to clarify through the analysis on the works adopting the korean images in the four classified aspects how the korean images are presented in contemporary costumes.
The results after the conducted analysis on in total 100 works adopting the korean images divided into 49 pieces adopting for the shape, 17 pieces for the colour, 18 pieces for the fabric and 16 pieces for the pattern. From this analysis, it is accounted that the shape is the most effective design factor to present a korean image. The image for "Jourgori(a kind of korean female jacket)" and "Chima(a kind of korean female skirt)" is adopted at the relatively higher rate in the shape whereas the colour, fabric and pattern are adopted at the nearly same rate.
To sum up, it is appreciated that korean costume is a very unique traditional costume which has been developed through out their racial characteristics and lifestyle so that it has been holding a very unique and peculiar gorgeousness and superiority that is unable to be found at any region of the world in terms of the shape, colour, fabric and pattern.
