With a view to record the toxicity and persistence of insecticides against Apis mellifera L. and in honey, six insecticides, quinalphos, imidacloprid, profenophos, triazophos, lindane and thiomethoxam were tested against honeybees during-and after-spray in the field. All the insecticides caused 100 percent bee mortality except imidacloprid which killed 76.6 percent foragers during spray. Residual toxicity of lindane, quinalphos, profenophos, thiomethoxam persisted even after 72h of their application. Imidacloprid and triazophos became safer for Apis mellifera after 48 and 72 h of their application of crop, respectively. Residues of lindane was maximum(0.002 - 0.090㎍g?¹) in honey samples followed by profenophos(0.012 - 0.023㎍g?¹). Quinalphos and triazophos residues(0.008㎍g?¹) in honey were on a par each other. Residues of other insecticides of organophosphate and synthetic pyrethroid groups were also found in almost all samples in detectable amounts.
