The aim of this study is to analyse the eco-friendly interior finishing materials that have been used since the Indoor Air Regulation were in force, to find out the interior designers' requirements of current eco-friendly interior finishing materials through the survey, and to investigate the current development status of eco-friendly interior finishing materials and obstacles in applying those materials to apartments through the in-depth interview. An analysis on the interior finishing materials used in apartments indicates that since the indoor air regulation were in force, there has been a transition from ordinary to eco-friendly interior finishing materials. The result of the survey shows that the recognition about the eco-friendly concept of respondent, the situation of present eco-friendly finish materials, the reliability about standard of an authentication system for eco-friendly materials, and the requirement for development. The result of in-depth interview identifies that there are four common obstacles in applying eco-friendly interior finishing materials to apartments; high price, installation method, lack of substitutes and difficulties in inspecting at the work area whether the eco-friendly interior finishing materials are correctly used as planned.
