This paper discusses the necessity of class analysis in the age of globalization, examining approaches to theories of class. Theories of class as theoretical bases of class analysis have been developed as scientific research programs for exploring social inequality. To use Lakatos' concept of science, theories of class still work as a scientific research programs because there are alternative theories of social inequality to class theories. However, the limits of conventional class analysis based on the nation state as geographical unit of analysis are discussed because they have difficulty in comprehending the dislocation of class relations and class politics emerges. This paper proposes to introduce new approaches to class analysis so as to analyze the new class inequality and class dynamics due to globalization.
