Our society is ageing at the highest speed in the world. If the present trend of advance in medical technology and low fertility is kept up, it is predicted that the percentage of aged population will go up above 14% to arrive at an ageing society in 2019 and then that of the elderly will exceed 20% to become a super-ageing society in 2026. The ageing society coming in the future is expected to have many effects on the whole society.
In a point of time when an ageing society is arriving, thus, this study conducted a questionnaire survey aiming at 348 golfers in their 40s to 50s, who will become potential customers of the ageing society in 2019, for the purpose of providing basic data for the direction and the prospect of activating golf so that golf which the elderly want to participate in as future leisure activity can take root. For this study, 19 items as for service factors on golf country club were reconstructed based on questionnaire items used by Choi Jong-pil(2005), Cho yong-kwon, Yun ki-Wong(2005). In addition, 7 items as for demographic variables of the subject were included in the questionnaire, so the questionnaire was composed of a total of 26 items. The reliability of the questionnaire was relatively high(Cronbach’s alpha = .623 to .814 by item).
The following concrete results were obtained from the questionnaire survey of the study aiming at seniors in their 40s and 50s who are potential customers of the ageing society in 2019. As the study results, Among service factors, ‘Approachability’ impacted future old people the most(β= .491, F= 15.737), ‘Price’ (β= .201, F= 12.204) and ’Service facility’(β= .198, F= 9.764) affected in the order. Based on these results, the direction for activating golf as leisure activity of the old was suggested as the following: 1) the government's will to expand golf facilities for leisure activity of the old, 2) offering to programs in connection with golf tour, 3) domestic golf championship for friendship of amateur seniors(association), 4) development of programs for indoor golf during off-peak period and in recess, and 5) training for guides or supervisors for old golfers. The above-stated suggestions should be the basic direction for activating golf as leisure activity of the elderly in the future.
