Modern Korea and China shared the same destiny in that both countries were under the control of Japanese imperialism. Consequently, these two countries were faced up with the national revolution. When 3.1 Movement broke out in Korea, the Chinese published many papers related with the movement. By reading these papers, one may realize that 3.1 Movement had the Chinese recognize Korean's national spirit with a new perspective.
One thing that the Chinese speak highly of 3.1 Movement is that Korean people voiced their stance with a peaceful manner. This has become “a new epoch of the world revolution.” When the peace demonstration was ended up with failure, there seemed to be no choice but to choose armed one. In addition, through 3.1 Movement, the Chinese people had a chance to establish new perception on Korean's national spirit. By looking at Koreans' making it happen which was thought to be impossible, the Chinese people were impressed by Korean's sacrifice on national independence and the freedom of the nation. Eventually, 3.1 Movement triggered Chinese people's awareness which finally led to fight against Japanese imperialism.
It is worthwhile to notice that by looking and hearing about Korean's 3.1 Movement, the Chinese people's traditional perceptions regarding Koreans were also changed. Instead of looking at Korea as their subject state, they perceived Korea as their partner. In the end, these new perceptions of the Chinese people toward Korea made it possible for Koreans and the Chinese to fight against Japanese imperialism later in the subsequent chapter of Asian history.
