Various discussions on were organ transplantation were made in Japan. In Korea, although such kind of discussions were rare, the point of view that the culture of the own country obstructsorgan transplantation is similar with that of Japan."@It is necessary to reconsider whether or not Confucianismculture, which was considered as obstructive factor, really have influenced organ transplantation.
Organ transplantation in Korea has a unique form which introduces the consideration of Confucianism. There is the logic which unify the family into one, and it is promoted by mass media This paper shows that Confucianism and an organ transplantation did not exist confrontationally, but Confucianism is not a negative factor for organ transplant. However, organ transplantation is equipped with the factor which causes frictions among the people and among the family. It is because organs have the nature of goods and symbol. Because the problems that donor and recipient face are complicated, besides investigation on the characteristics of organ transplantation and society, discussions that possess practical meaning should be done.
