Report Errors
The worst year being 1993, in which the market share of Korean films was at an all time low, the Korean film industry has developed rapidly since then. In 2001, Korean films finally found a dominate place in the Korean film market. But, in contrast to the Korean "blockbuster" films' wide success, the "low budget films" which also encompasses the independent films and the art films, are out of form and place in spite of the accomplishments as a film. Great box-office success of blockbuster films creates big budget financing and large distribution issues in film production. This biased production of popular films are based on consumerism which results in the uniformity of the culture resulting in hinderance of the development of the Korean film industry in the near future.
This essay will focus on establishing an efficient production system for the activation of low budget film production. With the understanding of the definition of low budget film and the data analysis of the Korean film market, related to the low budget film production, I will expose the possibilities of this production system.
