During the present 55 year Period of Division, a number of ways to Korean Reunification have been put out by several politicians, scholars, or activists. It seems that they have the various contents according to a standpoint and goal of their own, but have one common fact focusing on a political level.
After Examining them, I found that they did not consider a socio-cultural level fully. The process of Reunification of several countries, including Germany, made me ponder this level to be of importance. Though Germany carried out the Reunification politically, it cannot socio-culturally unify the state and everyday world into one till now. It took many other countries a long time until it established a unified state. A country is sometimes experiences a division in a everyday world.
The reunification should connect a political level with a socio-cultural level. By reason of our experience and others, we need to consider the vision of a socio-cultural level if we were to obtain the successful reunification of Korea. I called it "building a socio-cultural community of North-South Korea". In this paper, I tried to propose the vision, ways, and principles to establish it.
Anyway Korean reunification is not for a minority of power elites, but for all people. It is a kind of a condition and a boundary in order to rebuild a new society in the future of Korea. And it needs to be thought of as process to establish one new Korea.
