It can be found very interesting facts from saseol-sijo, one of the street arts in the late Chosun dynasty. Firstly, it can be said that following works of saseol-sijo, such as 〈이바 편메곡들아〉ㆍ〈?들에 동난지이 사오〉ㆍ〈屛風에 압니 ??동 불어진 괴〉ㆍ〈孫約正은 點心을 ?리고〉ㆍ〈드립더 ?득 안으니〉, has been not only misunderstood but incompletely studied by former researcher. Therefore, this study reinvestigate those saseol-sijo.
Each work is consist of various sexual wordplay. It is not only just a simple wordplay, but contains some facets of sexual customs which are fascinating. Hence, these were written on sijo books(歌集) and enjoyed by the people. Works of saseol-sijo which are mentioned, show sexual wordplay and expose amusing part on the base of hidden sexual customs.
The other side the understanding of pansori and genre painting same era help understanding above saseol-sijo correctly and finding a containing sexual customs. Saseol-sijo, pansori and genre painting can be considered as the excellent cooperating data to help the understanding of sexual customs in those days. When these forgotten sexual customs are researched thoroughly and considered carefully, we can understand correctly the common people atmosphere in the late Chosun dynasty.
