Recently, single pile foundation has been adopted increasingly to LRT(Light-rail transit) and railway bridges. However, soil-foundation interaction and moving load from trains are still not taken into account to single pile foundation in an effective way. This paper identifies mainly behavior characteristics of single pile and soil under moving loads applied to pile heads.
Model tests in laboratory are carried out to find pile model properties to be used in numerical analysis. The numerical analyses show that soil displacement with the moving loads increases 9.9~15.9% than the result of without the moving loads. Therefore analysis without considering moving loads may underestimate soil displacement.
