The present research aimed to assess asbestos scattering properties of plate type building materials according to external factors with the target of classrooms potentially having a possibility of asbestos scattering currently, and to execute an analysis on exposure and release possibilities as comparison of asbestos scattering properties after construction of a scattering prevention agent.
The simulation experiment for grasping basic properties of asbestos scattering was first carried out. As an experimental result in the second stage, the mock-up experiment was carried out to analyze asbestos scattering properties inside the actual volume supposing the indoor room of a building in the simulation experiment. In the third stage, field application experiments were carried out to understand asbestos scattering properties according to surface damage of ceiling boards and analyze effects on scattering inhibition of an asbestos scattering prevention agent which is one of protective construction methods.
As an experimental result, the asbestos scattering level showed a phenomenon increasing according to the intensity of vibration and air inflow, but the asbestos scattering level didn't largely increase any more in the intensity of more than a fixed level. In addition, although asbestos scattering is not detected in the existing indoor air quality measurement method, it appeared a result that asbestos of more than a standard value are detected according to vibration and air inflow. When the scattering prevention agent was constructed, there were reduction effects of the asbestos scattering level of around 63%, compared to the state that is not constructed. But in case of application on damaged asbestos building materials, it showed a disadvantage that the reliability of construction application relatively falls, such as approaching a nearly standard value according to specimens or not showing proper effects in some cases.
