There are four towns under the direct control by Myoung-ju in Unified Shilla period. Among these towns, Dongje-hyun(棟?縣) is not clear.
I concluded that Dongje-Hyun was located on Imge-Myun in Jeongson-Gun through this articles. The grounds of an argument are as follows. First, the name of places have something in common with the Namhan-river. For example, their geographic place names are related to the banks of a river. In addition to, another town cannot put into East coastal region judge from 『GoRyeoSa(高麗史)』「Jiriji(地理志)」. Second, there are existed ancient route between Ganngreung and Jeongson according to the GungYe(弓裔)'s attack direction through the descriptions of 『SamGukSaGi(三國史記)』. Third, archaeologically, of course, this is supported by existence of the fortresses and tombs of Shilla and Unified Shilla.
After this, based on knowledge of historical geography and archaeological materials, it is necessary to review the domain and roles of Haslla(何瑟羅: 강릉) shown in the discriptions of 『SamGukSaGi(三國史記)』.
