As a human behavior, love and marriage is not only the breeding way, but also an important respect of our social customs with great vitality, bright color and culture implication In the related marriage times, however, young men and women have little say about their marriage, the only thing they could do is to obey the command of parents and accept good offices of a go-between. So many other traditional elements except love are included in form of Chinese marriage. The lights of candles at traditional wedding flicker up boundlessly our imagination and expectation for love, but they show little happy and love to brides and bridegrooms. As pursing free love are regarded as a rebellion against social rules in that times, so such behaviors always end in tragic results. As a play on marriage and family, Ripe tangerines reflects women's attitudes towards love and marriage in a special times. The women in the play are either hurt by ideal loves or grieved by real loves, and being entangled between reality and tradition, their marriages are destined to a same tragic end. So this is both a variation of marriage and family, and an elegy by young women and for young women.
