This paper is focused on the relations between Futurism and modern architecture in the beginning of the 20th Century, especially during from 1900 to before the first World war I. Movements in this short period shows characteristics of a boundary between the pre-modern and modern architecture. Particular emphasis is placed upon the meaning of the Foundation Manifestos of Futurist and the formation of Modern architecture. The Foundation Manifestos was published on the Le Figaro, French newspaper, by F.T. Marinetti, poet in 1909. A. The manifestos showed key words such as scale, speed, noise, crowd, movement that referred machine era, while negating the conventions of the past. Sant'Elia, architect, considered to be a futurist, also announced a manifesto of futurist of architecture in 1914. His revolutionary imaginative idea was exhibited showing modern architecture in city with some elements for new urban environment responding to future machine era. The study realized, by analyzing his drawings and manifestos, that the futurist movement in painting and sculpture among the other avant-garde took a meaningful role for modern architecture be developed in terms of ideology and representation as well. The study finds the futurism has been devoted as one of the avant-garde force exposing new revolutionary vision for modern movement in the beginning of the 20th Century, even though it has lived for a short period of time.
