This Essay is prepared to examine the trend and issues of investigations about the village organizations in China. The social survey enjoyed a renaissance in 1930s. Japanese Empire researchers and Chinese did all stress the scientific investigation. The methods of the investigations were come from the west.
There were three investigative groups in China at that times. They are the social investigation group, the community investigation group and the materialist investigation group. They took a profound interest in the agricultural districts and rural communities. Those were almost the same concern.
The social investigation group were very interested in investigation itself. And the community investigation group showed an interest in both investigation and research. The materialist investigation group were very interested in classes and land ownership. But the concern about the village organizations were not so big. Their purposes of the investigations were mainly the reform and development of the agricultural districts.
The books about the methods of social investigation and the source books of 1930s data were published in large quantities in China on first ten years of 21c. That phenomena are estimated to come from both academic and political needs. This matter are the study hereafter.
