This essay aims to explain of periodic division of Korean history for modern times and claims to necessity of modern Korean dictionary. Many of the scholars view from 17th century to 1895(GAP-O GAEHYEOK) as modern Korean times. But this theory are not suitable for language states and other fields of study, for example history and literature.
We find out the difference of abundant words and grammatical distinction between modern and today in Korean. So we find out the inappropriate word items for the standards of Korean language.
Some linguists of Korean history gathered the list of modern Korean language. But these attempt are not modern Korean language dictionary. I spoke about the need for preserving modern Korean language.
