Because of their high comfort level, low noise level, and energy saving effect, radiant heating and cooling systems have seen considerable increase in their use. Accordingly, nations around the world have developed and disseminated related technology and a part of standards regarding radiant heating and cooling system products have been adopted. To secure system performance, there must first be standards for processes and conditions that determine the heating and cooling capacity of radiant heating and cooling systems. The purpose of such standards lie above all in enabling these systems to perform in accordance with occupants’ comfort by providing standards for determining the heating and cooling capacity of radiant heating and cooling systems. The proposed standards may be seen as integrated design standards that make possible the effective design of the entire system by providing standards regarding heat emission calculation, panel design, and system construction. Such integrated design standards will be able to contribute to occupants’ comfort and the building’s energy reduction by allowing the designer to design systems with desired performance. The proposed standards provide criteria regarding dynamic analysis and will make analysis of the energy performance of radiant heating and cooling systems possible. In addition, they shall include the design conditions regarding parts such as the heat supply, hydronic distribution systems, panels, and control systems of radiant heating and cooling systems.
