This study is to verify the effects of ISO 14001 environmental management system requirements on business performance. Many korean companies faced the needs of environmental management because of the sustainability but they do not meet the needs so far. The one way to meet those needs is to obtain the ISO 14001 EMS certification.
Therefore in this study, the research question is that ISO 14001 environmental management system requirements such as environmental policy, planning, implementing and operation, checking and management review will affect the business performance. In order to achieve this goal, the hypotheses were set and questionnaire were gathered and data were analyzed.
The results were as follows. First, environmental policy affected positively to the planning and the implementation and operation. Second, planning, implementation and operation affected positively to the checking. Third checking affected positively to the management review. Finally management review affected positively to the business performance. This result shows that companies should obtain ISO 14001 certification to increase business performance and competitiveness in the global market.
