This paper aims to study the mechanism on the addition of glides comprehensively. Each condition that glides can be inserted is as follows.
V₁V₂ → V₁-y-V₂(Addition of y): when at least one vowel is [-back], of the two vowels
V₁V₂ → V₁-w-V₂(Addition of w): when the preceding syllable, V₁ ends in o or u
The glide w can be inserted as well when a certain consonant is interposed between the two vowels such as sur?pt"a∼surw?pt"a. It is the manner that the first sound glides on to the next. Even the words like ‘nue’, the glide y can be inserted at post-syllable. This can also be inserted under certain conditions of ‘vŋe/vŋε’ like ‘saŋe’ or ‘choŋε’. the vowel ‘e/ε’ in post-syllable plays an important role in addition of glide y.
