In this study, the impact of a viscoplastic fluid droplet onto a solid surface was studied numerically using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) package, Fluent, with a volume of fluid (VOF) model. The viscoplastic fluid was modeled using the HerschelBulkley model. The numerical results agreed well with experimental data in the literature. Particularly, we focused on the influence of the rheological properties on the final sessile state. At relatively high magnitude of yield stress, impacting droplet has very low retraction rate and does not converge to spherical cap shape consistent with a static contact angle.
