The development of automotive technology and increased consumer level changes in the criteria for evaluating vehicle. the emotional quality of the vehicles, not only the car"s performance as well as noise and vibration from the vehicle and the sound quality of the vehicle has emerged as an important factor. These things include engine noise, wind noise, door closing sound and motor noise (almost everything you can feel) and many research to improve this are actively conducted in recent years. Door closing sound, the first and last sounds heard by the customers, is one of the primary attributes for drivers to determine the car image. Generally, the development of door closing sound was focused to reduce sound level and to eliminate rattle & squeaky noises. But it is difficult to explain the relation between sound level (or numerical values of single metric like sharpness and so on) of door closing sound and driver"s preference. The reason for discordance is that the subjective assessment is influenced by driver"s cognitive aspects. In this paper, the factors which affect the subjective evaluation is defined by Taguchi S/N ratios and standard frequency reference model was suggested which can be used in door closing sound evaluation.
