Thermoplastic Vulcalnizations (TPV) was examined to be applied to the rubber parts like guard-valve-body and diaphragm in brake systems. Automotive rubber parts exposed to harsh environmental conditions and duration criteria unlike other industries, are not easy to be replaced with environmentally-friendly thermoplastic material. In Industrial conditions in addition to other polymer material fields, automotive rubber materials have difficuties to meet the friendly-environment conditions. In this study, TPV of PP/EPDM compounds close to the rubber properties in the middle of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) were applied to the rubber parts in the needs like durabilities. Properties were inferior to thermoset rubber, but products performance requirements were satisfied. In brake systems, Guard-valve-body is able to protect the valve-body of booster from foreign matters and to control the air inlet, and Diaphragm is able to induce pressure between the two different rooms and to seal. When TPV of PP/EPDM was apllied for both guard-valve-body and diaphragm, properties results seems to be appropriate in the given environmental conditions. Satisfactory behaviors in automotive parts conditions were able to be determined with PP/EPDM in performance and durability.
