Korean people easily accepted and understood super-human strength as a part of traditional martial arts. However, its discipline was too strange to be widely accepted by the people that the legacy could not be continued. In a word, performing super-human strength is displaying human’s maximum power inherent in the body. The reason why super-human strength has disappeared in the modem society is inferred as follows: Firstly, in the perspective of modem medicine, the super-human strength potion itself is a dangerous substance containing heavy metals, which leads to heavy metal poisoning. Secondly, leading power from ghosts and using spells and talismans are recognized as uncivilized and unacceptable in the modem society. Thirdly, as the society is more and more civilized, people who enjoy comfortable and abundant life do not value objects that should be achieved through long and hard training. They prefer magic to the performance of super-strength. Therefore, these day’s super-human strength performance is nothing but a trickery. It is obvious that super-human strength should be recognized and preserved as a part of Korean people’s traditional martial art culture and that this should be handled in an institutional perspective.
