Lee Won-su is one of the prominent writers of Korean children literature leaving behind numerous works.
He is a prolific writer and researchers of Korean children literature appreciate his works. However, neither such appreciation nor researches upon his works is found in the area of children theatre while he produced great children theatre scripts reflecting historical thoughts and contemporary mind of 1950’s and 1960’s. In Lee Won-su’s collection, 23 works are scripts. This research analyses these scripts and explores characters of these works. By doing so, this study attempts to show what concept of child Lee has. Children in his works are categorized into hurt child, thoughtful child, immature child and low educated child. Such pictures of children demonstrate that he has humanism, romantism and respect for children’s dignity which are positive and constructive concepts of child.
