Response of Democratic Movement Group to the elections of 1971 in South Korea.
Both of the presidential election and the parliamentary election were held in same year, 1971. Exceptionally, Korean democratic movement groups actively engaged in the elections at the time. They made various organizations which appealed the protection of democracy and developed activity to prevent election rigging by Park Chung-hee government. This article explored this movement to get some historical lessons for the contemporary discussions on coalition politics. It advocated the pivotal necessity of setting issues and policies to break political apathy among people and to maintain and propel coalition politics for the long term.
