Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine biomechanical differences(High speed camera : Outsole slip test) between Type 1(Normal Outsole) and Type 2(Non-slip Outsole) badminton shoes and to make recommendations to improve the fit and function of Type 1 badminton shoes. Background: At present, development and assessment of specialty badminton shoes are not enough in comparison of increase of domestic badminton communities and players. Therefore, we aim to contribute to prevent injuries and promote athletic performance during badminton games by analyzing non-slip outsole badminton shoes. Method: For this 10 badminton players(mean age : 17.1±2.4 yrs, mean height : 176.5± 4.2 cm, mean body weight : 73.3±5.1, mean foot size : 264±3.1 mm) with over 8 years experience and right handed participated. Two kinds of badminton shoes were selected and tested through biomechanical testing for outsole slip(Heel, Toe and Mid stance). Outsole slip were measured and calculated during lunge motion. Results: As a result of the outsole slip test, while toe slip time increased 29.1 % from type 1 to type 2, Heel slip time and Mid stance slip time decreased 5.8 % and 29.7 %. Conclusion: There are several slip characteristics which make differences between Type 1 shoe and Type 2 shoe. Therefore, a few recommendations are provided to help improve the function of Type 2 shoe.
