Test procedures and rules may be published as formal standards by an economy’s standards-setting agency or by an international agency such as the International Standards Organization (ISO) or International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) or both. Even some products have International test procedures, but it is not fully comparative to test energy consumption or energy efficiency.
Recently CEN(European Committee for Standardization) is developing a new standard for air conditioner and heat pump to evaluate annual energy efficiency with calculating seasonal energy consumption and seasonal cooling and heating load, which is called as "Air conditioners, liquid chilling packages and heat pumps, with electrically driven compressors, for space heating and cooling - Testing and rating at part load conditions and calculation of seasonal performance". In this draft part-load calculation of air source air-to-water heat pump is also defined and introduced with seasonal energy consumption, while there is no ISO standard to present currently. As far as there has been no standard to define seasonal energy consumption of air source air-to-water heat pump in Korea. Recently a standard committee has launched to develop a new standard of heat pump water heater. In this study an experimental comparison between draft EN and draft KS has been analyzed on a test unit of 14 kW heating capacity. It presents an experimental comparison of seasonal performance factor of air source air-to-water heat pump between draft EN and draff KS standard.
