Hyo(孝) is the most absolute value of East Asian. Hyo ethics was not limited to the action of individuals or ethics of the household(家) but was expanded to ethics of the nation(國). Specially, Confucian Hyo is spatially extended, so that it has a political implication, and it is extended in time, so that it has a religious implication.
The purpose of this paper is to identify how ethics of household, Hyo is extended to ethics of the nation. And to do so, I examined relationship between Hyo ethics and confucian virtues; In(仁, perfect virtue), Ye(禮,courtesy), Choong(忠, loyalty). In East Asian society, despite of Hyo is individual acts, the reason which it could become universal ethics is that it is the foundation which realizes In(仁). Filial affection(孝心) of son is represented as Ye(禮), and then Hyo after death is stressed on, and objects of Hyo is retrospected to ancestors. Hyo is extended not only in time, but also specially. In other words, Hyo ethics and virtue of Choong(忠) is connected, so politicization of Hyo is formed.
Thus, Hyo is connected confucian main virtues like In, Ye and Choong, and Hyo ethics occupied the most important position in the consciousness of most people, and it was extended and converged to ethics of the nation.
