This paper aims to identify the characteristics of residential location of retirees in Seoul. Considering the change in mobility rates the study analyses the migration patterns of older people living in Seoul based on the internal migration data 2001 to 2010. For the entire migrants the elderly living in Seoul moved to non-capital, peri-urban and rural areas more than the younger age groups. However, comparing with the total population in Seoul, the probability of moving outer Seoul was not increased. The OLS estimations based on the proportion of age-specific migration to the total population show that the elderly still decide to move urban areas rather than peri-urban and rural areas despite the tendency is less than that of younger age groups.
